Heritage Day and a HUGE Thank You!
Today’s blog is a little different as it’s not going to follow our “how-to” kind of format, this is because we had our exciting fun-filled heritage day today and wanted to talk a little but about our adventures!
We started out concerned that we wouldn’t beat the rain, but we did! It did rain a little during our last hour but we won’t complain too much. We had lots going on and many faces that we don’t get to see all the time. A MASSIVE thank you goes out to all of our volunteers that came out and helped in any way they could!! We had volunteers in each of our buildings, excited to tell you about what they had on display. Wonderful volunteers in the food booth eager to get your belly full! Volunteers setting up and taking down. Volunteers giving wagon rides, volunteers tending to the field, volunteers everywhere! It wouldn’t be possible for us to have days like this without our volunteers, that’s for sure! We also want to give a thank you to our visitors that came out, days like this wouldn’t be complete without someone around to see it.
We ourselves stayed quite busy bringing around water, greeting visitors, and helping out all the volunteers we could. We also had a BLAST showing off some pioneer games and letting visitors have a go!
One thing in particular I would like to point out is the sewing machine we had out in the front yard, manned by more wonderful volunteers! If you were lucky, you had a chance to use the treadle-powered sewing machine to create a quilt block. These quilt blocks are being put together and eventually raffled off, so keep your eyes out for that! Next Saturday (July 22nd) from 11:00-3:00 we will be having a hand-quilting workshop for visitors to participate in! We may even have some of these blocks ready for visitors to quilt, talk about a team effort! We ask that you fill out this form (click here) if you wish to participate so that we may have enough to go around!
If you missed out this year come join us next year! Always keep an eye on our Facebook for more fun-filled days!
